E.L. Haynes Public Charter School located in Northwest Washington D.C. is seeking dynamic individuals to fill before-school and after-school Instructor positions in our exceptional Extended Day Program. Positions are ideal for creative individuals seeking a career in education or those who have a deep favour in love for and commitment to working with children in Pre-Kindergarten through 7th grade. On-going staff trainings and professional development opportunities will be provided.
Named behind Dr. Euphemia Lofton Haynes a D.C. teacher and the first African-American woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics E.L. Haynes serves a diverse body of students throughout the District of Columbia.
Time Commitment:
Before School Positions are part-time totaling at least 10 hours per week. Employees of the Before School Program job Monday through Friday 7:00am-9:00am.
After School Positions are part-time totaling at least 18 hours per week. Monday-Thursday hours are 2:45 - 6:00pm and Friday hours are 12:00pm - 6:00pm.
Opportunities exist to work additional hours in either the before-school or after-school program like well as substituting during the regular academy day.
Responsibilities:
EDP instructors are expected to manage classes of12 – 15 students in size maintaining behavioral and academic expectations set forth by the E.L. Haynes Year Round Programs Department. Instructional responsibilities include providing homework and other academic support to students in math and literacy through a variety of entire group small group and one-on-one settings. In addition instructors will be responsible for planning preparing and leading additional lessons and activities that are engaging enriching and challenging to students from a variety of academic levels and social developmental stages. Instructors will also be expected to inspire embody and demonstrate the values of E.L. Haynes as an energetic member of the school community.
Expectations:
Staff members will be expected to display professionalism in all aspects of this position including arriving to school on time and being prepared to work maintaining a deal casual dress and attire producing formal plans for lessons and activities and attending all staff meetings and professional development workshops.
